THE thoughtfulness of a Thurrock store worker has resulted in a £500 boost for the borough's Foodbank charity.
Amy Jarman, who works for Homesense Thurrock at the Lakeside Retail Park nomimnated Thurrock Foodbank for support from the TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation.
Amy said: "I am delighted to be able to support a local charity that is so close to my heart. Thurrock Foodbank supports people in the local area by providing emergency food supplies to those in crisis. I wanted to support this charity after making a connection with them at the start of lockdown - we donated a large proportion of our food from in store to them when we had to close.
"Witnessing the scale of vital work they do in my local community, all from such a small operating space, I knew I wanted to continue to support them in any way I could."
The Community Fund, which is part of The TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation, focuses on creating life-changing impacts through long-term partnerships to help make a difference where it matters. The initiative invites associates, employees working for either TK Maxx or Homesense, to apply for a grant on behalf of a local charity that is important to them within the local area.
The donation was accepted on behalf of the charity by Pete Newall, Operations Manager at Thurrock Foodbank who said: "On behalf of everyone here at Thurrock Foodbank, I want to thank everyone at The TK Maxx and Homesense Foundation for the generous donation, which will be invaluable to the local area and the lives of many."
