THURROCK Council planners have turned down an application to site a 5G telecoms installation including a street pole and additional equipment cabinets on land in Purfleet.

Last week Nub News reported on the decision to veto a similar project on land close to homes in South Ockendon.

Now the council has rejected a plan for land at the junction of Lockyer Road and London Road.

Though there were no objections made by residents in the area recorded with the application, the council says: "The siting, scale and appearance of the development is considered to be unsympathetic in the local context and inadequately camouflaged and is therefore unacceptable."
