ENGINEERING works to locate and fix gas leaks in the centre of Stanford-le-Hope are set to continue throughout this week.

Initially it was anticipated the 'emergency' works would take a week, but the disruption, which initially caused the closure of Church Hill and now sees Victoria Road closed is now into its third week.

After a bank holiday weekend when no work was carried out, a spokesperson for Cadent, the firm carrying out the work, said today (Tuesday, 26 May): "Currently engineers expect work to continue until Friday (May 29)."
