A THURROCK man who was cleared by a jury last month of four charges of sexual assault against a young girl will have to return to court next year to face a retrial on two other charges.

Music teacher Mark Yeldham, 55, of Rachael Clarke Close, Corringham, was arrested in 2022 and later charged with four historic counts of assaulting a girl under 13, all of which were dismissed by a jury.

However, during the trial and following evidence from the girl, two lesser charges were added to the indictments against him.

The jury was unable to reach a decision on them.

After considering the matter, the Crown Prosecution Service has called for a second trial when the two lesser charges will be heard again and a trial date has been set for 19 October next year.
