Anxious watch on the river as waters rise

RESIDENTS in Purfleet-on-Thames and other vulnerable areas are keeping an eye on the river this evening as hugh tide approaches.

Waters have already risen above the banks and fencing at Purfleet and other low lying areas, including Tilbury, may be at risk as high tide approaches just before 6pm.
