A TILBURY-based charity has been boosted by a grant of almost £20,000 from Asda which will allow it to refurbish its offices.
One Community Tilbury, which is based on Dock Road, has received a £19,720 Asda Foundation grant.
The award-winning charity was created by community groups, voluntary groups and Tilbury and Chadwell residents, for the benefit of local people across southern Thurrock in particular.
Kim Morgan, the Asda Tilbury community champion said: "We are so pleased for Yewande and the team. It is all here to help our local community."
After receiving the cheque, the Trust CEO Yewande Kannike said: "We're thrilled to receive this to renovate and upgrade our One Community Centre in Tilbury!
This money is going to completely overhaul the community shopfront — a space that's been overdue for a revamp since 2011.
"It's used by thousands of our friends and neighbours every year.
"The renovation will mean brand new facilities, including a dedicated hygiene hub and revamped toilets, making the centre a brighter, more accessible place for everyone.
"A massive thank you to our partners at the Asda Foundation for helping us keep removing barriers to employment for our diverse community."
