Aveley birthday car cruise ended as police ask drivers to move on

A CUSTOM car 'cruise' through Aveley caused a little bit of a furore in Aveley this afternoon but in the end it passed off without too much trouble or inconvenience.

Some residents were alarmed when a cavalcade of cars began to circulate in the village, with some of them revving their engines and some klaxons blaring.

It appears the custom cars were being driven to give a birthday treat to a fan who was in lockdown.

While a small number of people appeared upset by the parade, far more applauded it and sentiments expressed on social media were encapsulated by this: "We loved this, so did all the neighbours. Spoke to a few of the people, a really lovely lot."

Police have confirmed that they attended after being alerted by concerned residents, saying: "We attended in Aveley and spoke to the drivers, who then agreed to move on."

See some more of the cars through this video link and another, here.
