STAFF and pupils at Aveley Primary School have been celebrating after a positive outcome to a recent inspection by Ofsted.

Inspectors visited the school in June and have recenlty deliver a 'GOOD' in all areas verdict.

During the robust check inspectors spoke to leaders, pupils and parents to gather their views.

Comments in the report included, "Pupils enjoy coming to this school. They are able to learn in a friendly and calm environment. Pupils know adults want them to succeed and care about their well-being. Pupils take care when presenting their work and writing about the things they have learned. They are proud of their achievements."

Deep dives - where Ofsted look closely at subjects- were undertaken in early reading, maths, geography, science and RE. For each deep dive, the inspector met with subject leads, looked at curriculum plans, spoke to teachers and pupils about their learning and looked at samples of pupils' work.

Prior to joining the Catalyst Academies Trust in 2019, the two form entry school in Aveley was judged as Requiring Improvement.

The report acknowledged the hard work from the leaders of the school and trust in securing the improved standard,

It read: "School and trust leaders prioritise training for staff in a range of subjects. Therefore, teachers are well trained and confident to teach the curriculum. Teachers work well together to share expertise in designing lessons for pupils. Teachers use the same familiar routines, resources and expectations in all lessons. This helps pupils to become confident learners and work hard."

The Aveley Resource Centre, a specialist provision, was praised for the work it does with inspectors saying: "Pupils in the school's autistic resource centre (ARC) receive expert support. This helps pupils successfully work towards their individual targets."
