THIS evening (Thursday, 2 June) beacons to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee were lit in the village of Bulphan and at Coalhouse Fort at East Tilbury and Nub News called in to bring the right royal spirit to our news platform.

Other beacons were lit at Purfleet, Tilbury Fort and Fobbing.

At Bulphan we spoke to local village stalwart Janet McCheyne, one of a hard-working band of people in the village community to keeps local life ticking aover.

And we highlighted the many desiplays in the Village Hall which will be available to view over th extended bank holiday weekend.

And at Coalhouse Fort, where local councillor Fraser Massey paid tribute to the Queen and led a rousing three cheers - and Tilbury Band provided the music - a beacon was lit by Fort enthusiast Ken Levy in front of hundreds of local people.
