Bid for four homes on 'infill' land in green belt

AN application has been submitted to build four houses on a site right on the edge of Thurrock's boundary with Basildon.
Though the site is in the green belt the applicant suggests it would not be an inappropriate development as the land to be used is sandwiched between existing buildings and the area, close to the Five Bells roundabout, is already developed. The applicant and agent, KMDS Designs of Hornchurch, described the development as 'infill'.
And the site has been earmarked for possible development in the options stage of the long awaited but as-yet-unpublished Thurrock Local Plan.
The new homes would be arranged as two detached dwellings and a pair of semi-detached properties fronting Southend Road, Fobbing. The detached dwellings would be five-bed, two-storey houses with additional rooms within the roof space served by rooflights.
The semi-detached dwellings would be four-bed, two storey houses.
Two new vehicle crossovers would be created and shared and would access parking areas to the front of the site. Each dwelling would benefit from private rear amenity space.
