HAVING won permission to convert a shop in Corringham town centre's Grover Walk parade into a Turkish restaurant, its operators have submitted a new application to Thurrock Council to extend the frontage with decking for tables, chairs and planters.

The application for the change of use of the shop at 17 Grover Walk to the Zer Shish restaurant became a major talking point in the town. The initial application for a change of use was submitted in December 2019 by OMG Desserts and it was widely anticipated that the site might become a dessert café, similar to one run in Basildon.

However, the application was refused only for the applicants to go to appeal and win approval via the planning inspector. A submission for a change of the shop frontage, which was allowed, showed the café would, in fact, operate as Zer Shish Turkish Cuisine.

Now a further application has been made to increase the number of customers it can cater for with an outside area.

The full application and opportunity to comment can be found here.
