Bike rider injured in A13 collision

The accident backed up traffic as far back as the Manorway roundabout junction and beyond.

A MOTORBIKE rider was taken to hospital after being in a collision with another vehicle on the A13 near Orsett last night.

Police, fire and ambulance services attended the incident, though the fire crew were not required as no-one was trapped.

The collision happened on the slip road approaching the Orsett Cock roundabout, heading westwards. Queues reached as far back as the Manorway junction and beyond while emergency services dealt with the incident.

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said " We were called at 6:14 pm yesterday [Wednesday 12 August] to a road traffic collision between a car and a motorbike. An ambulance and an ambulance officer's vehicle were sent to the scene where one patient was treated and transported to hospital."

A police statement said: "There were no serious injuries or reports of leaving the scene from this incident."

As long as there is traffic on the road controlled by people , there will never be a non-accident system.
Was the motorcyclist riding on the right hand side of the vehicle (which is normal for most riders), did he/she pull out into the main stream of traffic and mis-judge the speed of the oncoming vehicles. The main point is no-one was seriously hurt, so why the big story. These things happen every day in every town all around the country.
