POLICE have issued an appeal for information following an incident in Corringham this afternoon (Sunday, 26 February) after a young motorbike rider suffered serious injuries after being in collision with a bus.

Residents have said that he was one of two young riders seen racing around the area on bikes prior to the incident.

The air ambulance was called to the scene and the road was closed in both directions while medical treatment was given and then an investigation undertaken.

The incident happened around 3pm on Lampits Hill. A police statement issued this evening (7pm) says: "We were called to Lampits Hill shortly after 3pm today to reports of a serious collision involving a motorcycle and a bus.

"The motorcyclist has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

"The road is closed in both directions, and we expect that closure to be in place for the next few hours.

"We need anyone who witnessed the incident or who has dashcam, doorbell or mobile phone footage of it to get in touch.
