A HOME in Tilbury has been left uninhabitable after a fire yesterday (Monday, 19 May).

Firefighters from Grays, Orsett and Corringham stations were called the blaze which began in the garden of a house on Raphael Avenue just after 3.30pm and spread to the building.

Station Manager Adam Barber said: "When crews arrived, the fire had started spreading from the garden to the roof of the semi-detached property."

Firefighters worked quickly to contain the fire and stopped it spreading to the neighbouring property.

However, the whole house has been damaged by the fire, and is now not habitable.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
