A CELEBRATION event will take place next month to mark the 100th anniversary of Grays Thurrock Royal British Legion branch – and thanks to a sponsor's generosity 20 borough people will join in the festivities for free.

The 100  year Dinner and Dance will take place at the Civic Hall, Blackshots, on Friday, 9 September.

Branch president Rod Oakley says he is delighted to be able to say: "We have a sponsor who will fund up to 20 free places for Thurrock veterans and their partners who may be on a limited budget

"If you know of someone who would benefit form this kind gesture please let me know as soon as possible."
