THURROCK's second Covid-19 vaccination centre looks set to open its doors for the first time tomorrow after a slight delay.

At the start of the week it was announced that the Chadwell Medical Centre at 1 Brentwood Road would be the borough's second surgery to offer the jab from today and it is understood that they began to make appointments.

However, due to issues with supply across the region, the vaccine is now not likely to be available there until tomorrow (Friday, 15 January). A spokesperson for Thurrock Clinical Commissioning group said: "People have been invited from tomorrow and hopefully we will know very soon that the vaccinations have arrived and we can confirm with them that it's all systems go."

Chadwell Medical Centre's partner surgery, the Dilip Sabnis Centre on nearby Linford Road will be looking after all the non vaccination patients from Chadwell Medical Centre.

Meanwhile vaccinations have been taking place at the area's first centre at Stifford Clays Health Centre, where vaccines has been available since last week to those who make appointments through the prescribed procedure after being contacted by their local GP.

In addition there is a vaccination centre at Basildon & Thurrock Hospital and some home visits to vulnerable people and to local care homes are now also being rolled out.

You can find information about the local vaccine programmes here.
