A 16-YEAR-old boy from Horndon on the Hill has been ordered to pay compensation of £1,500 to the victim he attacked and injured.

Basildon Magistrates' Court heard that the offence took place in the Thurrock village on 20 May last year when the defendant, who admitted the charge, unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm on another person.

The guilty boy cannot be named because of his age. He was ordered to attend a Thurrock youth offender panel for 12 months - and his mother must attend with him.

He was also ordered to pay costs and a surcharge totalling £125.
