Police probe robbery from boy close to school

POLICE have confirmed they are investigating an incident in Stanford-le-Hope when a young student was robbed - though the items taken were later returned.

The student, a pupil at St Clere's School in the town, was approached by other young people in Butts Lane, close to the school, and it is reported he was assaulted, threatened and robbed.

A police statement says: "We are investigating following an incident in Stanford-le-Hope where a 12 year-old boy had his bag and coat taken.

"It happened in Butts Lane at around 3pm on Thursday, 16 January. His items were later returned to him. Our enquiries are ongoing.
