Boy injured in incident that prompted significant police response

POLICE have appealed for information following a significant operation in South Ockendon after a teenager eas injured.

Information about what happened yesterday (Saturday, 23 November) remain somewhat sketchy, with social media comments suggesting the boy was stabbed.

A police statement issued last night says: "We were alerted shortly after 1pm, in Clayburn Gardens, South Ockendon.

"It was reported that a teenage boy had sustained a number of injuries to his hands and torso.

"He was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries which are, thankfully, not life-threatening.

"There is a significant policing presence in the area – and that will continue to be in place.

"At this stage, no arrests have been made and we're following a number of targeted lines of enquiry.
