Bridge closed and rail services are hit

HIGH winds and the incoming threat of Storm Franklin has prompted closure of the QEII bridge this afternoon (Sunday, 20 February).

It was closed at 2.30pm and motorists have been warned it could remain closed until well into tomorrow.

c2c have also announced the cancellation of services this afternoon and are set to run a reduced schedule tomorrow.

The Met Office has issued a widespread yellow weather warning across England saying the impact of the third storm to hit the UK in five days will be felt until 1pm tomorrow.
