UPDATED: Bridge closed while police deal with incident

POLICE concerned about the welfare of a woman have closed the QEII bridge.

The closure came around 11.15am today (Saturday, 16 April), with traffic on the bridge and access roads brought to a standstill.

The incident is between J31 A1306 and J1A A206 (Dartford). Essex Police has confirmed they were called to the bridge as people were concerned for a woman's welfare.

UPDATE:

It was reported that the incident, which led to considerable congestion across the area, ended around 1pm when traffic began to move.
