THE two men whose actions forced the closure of the QEII bridge for two days have been remanded in jail after appearing at Southend Magistrates Court today (Thursday, 20 October).

Morgan Trowland, 39, and Marcus Decker, 33, have been charged with committing a public nuisance. They will be held in custody until their appearance for trial at Basildon Crown Court on Thursday, 17 November.

Trowland, of Drummond Way, Islington, and Decker, of no fixed abode, did not enter pleas.

The two men are members of the JustStopOil campaign group and scaled suspension wires on the bridge in the early hours of Monday morning (17 October).

They stayed there until late Tuesday when they were brought down by police using a raised platform.
