Brief evacuation at port site after 'shell' was found

THERE was a brief evacuation of part of the Port of Tilbury yesterday after what appeared to be an explosive device was found in a metal recycling plant.

Port of Tilbury police reported: "Report from the metal recycling plant, staff have located a mortar missile and have evacuated. Luckily, it was empty and safe to remove."
