VILLAGERS in Bulphan gathered this afternoon for a Remembrance Service in one of the borough's most picturesque settings.

The church of St Mary the Virgin in Bulphan was host to a short ceremony featuring the Last Post, Reveille, wreath-laying and the National Anthem.

Churchwarden Frank Woollard led the service, Steve Johnston played the Last Post and Reveille.

Cllr Barry Johnson laid wreaths on behalf of himself and fellow ward councillor David Day.

Janet McCheyne, who also played the accordian to accompany singing of the National Anthem, laid a wreath on behalf of Bulphan Village Community Forum. A wreath from Bulphan WI was laid by Dot Porter and Gill Hale.

Brian Flavell and Emily Howell shared the reading of the Exhortation.

The lychgate was decorated in poppies knitted by members of the village WI.

Those who entered the church grounds did so through one of the most beautiful lychgates in the borough, which has a spectacular display of poppies, prepared by the WI.
