IT has been revealed that passengers were injured in a series of attacks on buses in Stanford-le-Hope on Saturday evening (24 January).
Items were fired a number of buses on the 100 route in the town, reportedly by children using catapults.
Police are investigating the attacks, which prompted the withdrawal of the service.
A First Bus spokesperson said: "We can confirm that the 100 bus service experienced disruptions over the weekend and on Monday due to incidents of anti-social behaviour in the Stanford-le-Hope area.
"The services were diverted away from areas of concern after five bus windows were shattered and some passengers sustained minor injuries.
"Services have returned to normal today (Tuesday, 27), but we reserve the right to divert or halt the services again at the first sign of issues in order to protect both our customers and our staff.
"We are working closely with the police to investigate the incidents and to help identify those responsible."
