c2c services via Rainham and Tilbury were seriously disrupted today (Saturday, 25 June) due to a broken down freight train between Rainham and Purfleet, which compounded problems caused by the national rail strike.

Originally trains to Pitsea, via Grays were diverted non-stop via Ockendon but, since about 4:30 this afternoon, nothing has been moving with passenger trains being held at Grays and East Tilbury.

c2c announced: Due to a broken down freight train between Rainham and Purfleet the Pitsea-bound line is blocked. Train services running across the whole c2c network may be delayed or revised. Please check your journey.
