Cadets joined Force for Speedwatch operation

VOLUNTEER Police cadets helped man speedchecks on a number of borough roads recently.

The 'Speedwatch' operation took place on Wednesday, 16 April enhance road safety and raise awareness about the dangers of speeding in local communities.

The areas where these Speedwatch operations took place included:

  • Branksome Avenue, Stanford-Le-Hope
  • Woodview, Grays
  • Daneholes Roundabout, Grays
  • Muckingford Road, East Tilbury.

A statement from Essex Police said: "The team worked tirelessly to monitor traffic and educate drivers on the importance of adhering to speed limits.

"During the operation, 10 letters of words of advice were given and Traffic Offence Reports (TORs) were also issued for the following offences:

  • 1 Red light offence
  • 2 Seatbelt offences
  • 2 Speeding offences
  • 1 Driving without due care and attention offence

"In addition to their Speedwatch duties, the cadets also took part in litter picking, demonstrating their commitment to making local communities a cleaner and safer place.

"This operation not only helped in identifying speeding vehicles but also fostered a sense of community responsibility and engagement.

"We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Essex Volunteer Police Cadets for their invaluable support and commitment."
