Consultation events for 1,500 new homes scheme

TWO public consultation events will take place over the weekend about a potential 1,500 home development on the edge of Chadwell St Mary.
Bloor Homes is hosting the events as it shapes its masterplan for the proposed site to the east of Chadwell.
The company has already submitted a request for a scoping opinion from Thurrock Council for their plans which is a formal written statement from the relevant planning authority that outlines the scope and level of detail it requires for a full planning application
The events will take place on Friday, 25 April and Saturday, 26 April at Chadwell Village Hall.
Bloor Homes has issued a statement ahead of the meetings, saying it is "calling on residents of Chadwell St Mary to have their say on exciting new plans that will bring much-needed homes and community facilities to the local area."
The statement continues: "With 4,000 people currently on the Thurrock's housing register, many local families are struggling to find suitable homes.
"Young families seeking to stay close to their support networks face limited options, while older residents hoping to downsize often encounter similar challenges.
"Bloor Homes aims to change that by delivering 1,500 new homes, including a diverse mix of housing types and 50% affordable homes designed to meet local needs.
"But this isn't just about new houses - it's about creating a thriving, vibrant community.
"The development will feature a new neighbourhood centre filled with useful shops and services, potentially including a hairdresser, convenience stores, and flexible community spaces to bring people together.
"Families will also benefit from enhanced education facilities, with plans for a new early years centre and primary school to serve the growing community.
"Additionally, Bloor Homes is working closely with the NHS to allocate space for a potential healthcare facility, improving access to vital primary care services.
"Listening to residents is key, and Bloor Homes understands concerns about traffic and road conditions. In partnership with Thurrock Council, plans are underway to improve local transport links while introducing new walking and cycling routes. These steps will promote healthier lifestyles and provide sustainable travel options for everyone."
Martin Cumberworth, Strategic Land Director for the South East at Bloor Homes, added: "We are committed to working closely with the community to deliver a development that truly reflects their needs and aspirations,.
"Our vision is to create not just new homes, but a thriving neighbourhood where families can grow, businesses can flourish, and residents feel proud to call home."
To ensure residents can view the proposals and share feedback directly with the team, there will be two drop-in public consultation events. These will be hosted at the Chadwell Village Hall, on Friday 2:30pm-7:30pm and Saturday, 9:30am-12 noon.
For those unable to attend the events, you can view the proposals and share your feedback online at www.bloorhomes-chadwellstmary.co.uk until Tuesday, 13 May.
