Call for more CCTV and preventative action over anti-social behaviour on Grays estate and new flats area

By Neil Speight 13th Aug 2020

WARD councillors in Grays are calling for a review of CCTV provision on the Seabrooke Rise estate in the wake of anti-social behaviour involving children.

The incident saw newly planted shrubs and trees in a community garden ripped up and thrown around - upsetting residents in the new and nearby Alma Court council house complex.

Ward councillor Martin Kerin has responded on behalf of himself and fellow ward councillors by saying: "We are appalled by the events that have taken place around Alma Court, Arthur Toft House and the new community garden.

"The damage to the garden is particularly galling when you consider the input that local residents and the Seabrooke Estate Residents Association had with the design of it.

"The Seabrooke Rise area has an amazing community spirit.Let us be clear: these acts do not represent the vast majority of decent, community-minded residents who live on the estate.

"We will be asking Thurrock Council to audit the CCTV provision on the estate and look into additional CCTV to cover Alma Court and to liaise closely with Essex Police.

This sort of anti-social behaviour is unacceptable and we stand firmly with our residents against it."
