Call for volunteers to add to success of Re-engage

A BOROUGH-based charity that makes a real difference to the lives and well-being of elderly, isolated or vulnerable people in Thurrock is looking for more volunteers.

Re-engage has proved a huge success in help alleviate loneliness and isolation in the community by organising events including regular tea parties, with eight groups of people already established and meeting frequently.

It could do more and reach out to help many other borough residents, but it needs more volunteers to do so.

Regional organiser Loraine Coleman says: "We are desperate for volunteers, drivers and hosts.  We have many elderly guests on our waiting list now and are unable to offer them a place on a tea party group until we launch Thurrock Nine.

"We are so excited to be in a position to launch another group but sad that there will be a long wait until we attract more volunteers to enable this group to launch.

"We were very lucky to be chosen by Thurrock CVS to participate in the '30 second Thursday' video. This wonderful video which showcases our tea parties brilliantly will be a good support to our recruitment of volunteers.

"We are hoping that our nearly 10 years of running successful tea parties in Thurrock with proven results in reducing isolation and loneliness within our elderly community with 50+ dedicated volunteers will inspire others to join us.
