Car overturns and hits bus shelter. Three treated at hospital for injuriese

EMERGENCY services are dealing with an incident on Stifford Road in South Ockendon, where at least three vehicles have been in a collision.

One of the vehicles has overturned and hit a bus stop.

Nub News understands that several people may have been injured, but no-one seriously, in the incident just before 7pm. It has been reported that the driver of the overturned vehicle is OK, though 'very shaken' by the incident.

A statement from East of England Ambulance Service after the incident says: "We were called at 6.14pm yesterday with reports of a collision in Stifford Road, South Ockendon.

"We sent three ambulances and took three people to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital for further care."

Police officers on scene have been interviewing drivers and passengers.

Firefighters are making the overturned vehicle safe and recovery vehicles were preparing to move damaged cars.

A statement from Essex Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters were called to a road traffic collision on Stifford Road, South Ockendon at 6:50pm. 

"On arrival, crews reported three vehicles had collided. Nobody was trapped in their vehicles and crews worked to make the scene safe."
