THE man who crashed his car into the frontage of a Stanford-le-Hope charity shop, narrowly missing two young people and then driving away from the scene has been reported for driving without due care or attention.
It's generally regarded as a lower grade motoring offence that leads to points (3-9) and a fine. On occasion it can lead to disqualification, with penalties, depending on severity and circumstances.
The 70-year-old man has also been reported for leaving the scene of an accident.
His vehicle struck the shutters of the Haven's Hospice in Stanford-le-Hope on Saturday, 22 November.
A police statement issued today (Wednesday, 10 December) says: "Following our initial enquiries, a 70-year-old man has been identified as being the driver, and has since been interviewed and reported for Driving Without Due Care and Attention and Failing to Stop at the Scene of a Collision.
"This outcome reflects our commitment to ensuring road safety and holding drivers accountable for their actions.
"We want to thank local residents and businesses for their cooperation during the investigation. Your support helps us keep our roads safer for everyone."
