THURROCK Foodbank, the charity that provides emergency food for people in crisis, has received a £1,500 donation from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Tilbury.

The Foodbank, part of the Trussell Trust, provides three days' worth of nutritionally balanced, emergency food and support to people who have been referred to them in crisis.

The donation from the Amazon team will go towards purchasing tinned and long-lasting food items for vulnerable families in Tilbury.

General manager at Amazon in Tilbury, Carlos Guijarro Benito, said: "The team at Amazon in Tilbury is pleased to support Thurrock Foodbank with this donation. The staff and volunteers at the charity do invaluable work in our community and we're happy to lend them a helping hand."

Pete Newall Operations Manager at Thurrock Foodbank, added: "We would like to thank the Amazon team for this fantastic donation and the continued support that they give Thurrock Foodbank throughout the year.

"Thurrock Foodbank is dedicated to working to combat poverty across Thurrock and is part of The Trussell Trust network of Foodbanks. With the support from Amazon we are able to support those in need across Thurrock."
