Centenary of memorial will be marked at this year's Remembrance service in Purfleet

THE tradional start to Thurrock's season of remembrance events will be extra special this year.

On Sunday, 6 November a service will be held at St Stephen's Church, London Road, Purfleet-on-Thames and it will mark the 100th anniversary of the installation of the war memorial in the church grounds.

As usual the event will start with a parade from Purfleet Heritage and Military Centre on Centurian Way at 10am.

Later in the month the Heritage Centre will hold its annual meeting at the centre. It will take place on Thursday, 17 November at 11am.
