Man in seventies arrested after stabbing - appeal to bus users who might have witnessed event

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward following an incident on a bus at Basildon Bus Station yesterday evening (Saturday, 29 October).

Officers were called to a route 3B First Bus in Southernhay at around 8.10pm.

A man, in his 20s, had stab wounds to his head and was taken to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

A man, in his 70s, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

A police statement says: "We want to speak to anyone who was on the bus at the time of the incident to contact us. We know that some people left before officers arrived.

"We particularly want to speak to a man who was wearing a shop uniform.
