RESIDENTS are expected to turn up in numbers for a ceremony tomorrow (Friday, 27 May) which will see the official naming of the Aveley bypass in recognition of the loss of local soldier Nicky Mason.

Lance Corporal Mason died in the conflict in Afghanistan and after a local campaign, Thurrock Council agreed to name the bypass in his memory.

The ceremony will take place at 5pm and afterwards there will be an event to mark the occasion and to celebrate the life of Nicky at Aveley Village Social Club.
