THURROCK's police chief has highlighted the work of his officers after the arrest of two teenagers in connection with a robbery in Grays.

It was reported two children had been robbed in Grays Shopping Mall at around 3.30pm on Thursday (3 April).

Officers, include those from Grays Neighbourhood Policing Team and response officers, went to the High Street and through CCTV identified two suspects.

Two 17 year-old boys were arrested later that evening on suspicion of robbery.

They have since both been released on bail until 21 June.

Chief Inspector Tony Atkin, District Commander for Thurrock said: "My officers worked quickly, responding to the robbery of two vulnerable people.

"Working with our partners they were able to quickly identify two suspects and bring them into custody.

"Our investigation into this case continues.

"Incidents such as these can cause concern but we've worked hard to tackle robbery and reduce it.

"In the last year we've seen a 25 percent fall in people being robbed across Thurrock – that's 44 fewer offences and 44 fewer victims.

"However, we are not complacent and will continue to bring these offences down further.

"We do this because we value our neighbourhoods."
