MOTORISTS who use the northern section of Lower Dunton Road will have to find a different route through large parts of October and all of November as sections of it will be closed to through traffic while work takes place on cables.

The work to install 33kv electric ducts and cables will start on Saturday, 8 October and runs to Wednesday 30 November 2022.

The first closure will start on 8 October for 23 days and will be over a stretch of Lower Dunton Road for 245 metres from the junction with Church Lane in a northerly direction.

The second closure, starting on Thursday, 3 November from a spot 430m south of the junction with West Mayne for a distance of around 550 yards southwards.

Access for emergency services and pedestrians will be maintained at all times.

The works effectively involve the total closure of Lower Dunton Road with no through access from A127 – A13 and vice versa so alternate routes will need to be found. Driovers are advised to  and / or follow the diversion being put in place – A127 - A176 through to Basildon – A13.
