A COLLISION between a heavy goods vehicle and a car blocked Buckingham Hill Road at Linford earlier today.

The crash happened around noon, just past the junction linking Buckingham Hill Road, Muckingfor Road and Princess Margaret Road.

Several ambulances attended the incident and are reported to have taken three females to hospital for treatment. They are a mother and two daughters, with the mother said to be 'not in a good way'.

A statement from the East of England Ambulance Service says: "We were called at 12.10pm with reports of a collision in East Tilbury Road, Linford.

"We sent three ambulances and an ambulance officer vehicle.

"A woman and two children were taken to Basildon & Thurrock Hospital for further care."

In the wake of the crash there was considerable congestion through the village and neighbouring East Tilbury - not helped by the fact that Fort Road, which offers access to the villages from the south is currently closed.
