TRAFFIC was advised to avoid a busy junction following an early morning crash near Stanford-le-Hope that left one person requiring hospital treatment.

The incident happened some time after 9am this morning (Monday, 5 February) and involved two vehicles at the junction of the A1013 and London Road known as Rookery Corner.

Police were able to remove one of the the vehicles to a nearby road but the other vehicle which sustained more damage still needed to be recovered at 8am, with rush hour traffic starting to build up around the junction, with the A1013 reduced to a single lane.

A statement from the East of England Ambulance Service said: "Four patients were assessed at the scene and one woman was transported to Basildon and Thurrock Hospital for further assessment and care."
