POLICE have confirmed that a teenager from Tilbury has admitted involvement destruction of a defibrillator in the town that shocked the local community.

The incident on St Chad's Road was reported on Thurrock Nub News in November, when local community leaders described the vandalism of a potentially lifesaving device as 'mindless, gobsmacking and destruction just for the sake of it.'

Initial reports of the incident said a number of youths were involved.

Now Essex Police have confirmed to Nub News that a 15 year-old boy has accepted a community resolution in connection with the incident.

A statement says: "It was reported a defibrillator had been stolen from St Chad's Road shortly after 4.40pm on Thursday 20 November.

"Officers investigated and identified a boy from the town who was responsible and the incident has been resolved via a community resolution."

No details have been issued of what the resolution is, but Nub News understands the boy will not face any charges and there has been no reparation for the damage.
