DEVELOPERS Keepmoat Homes have withdrawn a longstanding planning application to build 35 new homes in the centre of Grays.

The scheme was for 35 dwelling to be built on the former allotments site bordered by Orsett Road and Dell Road and created a considerable amount of controversy - not least over the terms of conditions of the sale of the site, which was owned by Thurrock Council.

A number of residents objected to the scheme for 20 houses and 15 apartments on environmental and parking issues.

The scheme was originally submitted in August last year but was withdrawn last week.

It is not known if the applicants are planning to submit an alternative proposal for the site.

Full details of the original application and the outcomes can be found here.
