THURROCK Council's bin collection services resumed today (Wednesday, 14 December) after a two day break because of adverse weather.

However, the council will not be visiting those houses whose collections were missed. Nor will brown bins be emptied.

A statement from the council said: "We regret we will not be able to complete bin collections this week for streets missed due to snow and ice on Monday 12 December and Tuesday 13 December.

"On Monday 19 December and Tuesday 20 December, we will collect extra waste left in bags beside wheeled bins. Non-recyclable waste must be tied in black bags, and recycling must be tied clear bags.

"Unless there is more snow and ice overnight, we expect to collect green/grey and blue bins on their usual days from Wednesday, 14 December but there will be no brown bin collections this week. We apologise for any inconvenience. We will collect brown bins from 'Week 1' and 'Week 2' households next week on your usual weekday up to 6pm, beginning Monday 19 December.
