Council is on the lookout for lollipops

By Neil Speight 9th Aug 2021

THURROCK Council is seeking to appoint three new 'lollipop' patrollers to help improve safety outside borough schools.

It hopes to create School Crossing Patrols in Chafford Hundred, Chadwell St Mary and Stanford-le-Hope though it has not specified the schools.

The pay is £9.24 per hour on a 12 month fixed term contract, working up to ten hours a week in term time.

The council says the three patrols will help ensure the safety of children and other pedestrians crossing the road at a designated point without detriment to the welfare of other road users by stopping traffic in a safe manner.

Anyone interested in the roles is asked to contact Julie Cooper, 07801 279 184, for an informal chat.
