Will planners shine the light of approval on Sunny's new plan?

By Neil Speight   9th Aug 2021

A YEAR after planning officers rejected a similar proposal, the owners of a Grays shop are going back to Thurrock Council hoping to be second time lucky with an application to extend the floorspace of the retail area and create an extended flat above it.

The application has been submitted to extend the Sunnys Store at 433 London Road, South Stifford, and includes a plan to increase the size of the two bedroomed flat above it with the addition of another bedroom.

Last year's application was rejected because the plan was to create a separate single bed flat in addition to he existing one, but planning officers ruled that out because the proposed residential unit would, 'by reason of its small scale and inadequate floor area provision, fail to provide a suitable residential environment for future occupiers'.

The new application can be found via this link.
