Council moves onto the front foot with praise for its workers

By Neil Speight 11th Nov 2020

THURROCK Council has taken to social media to praise the work of its street cleaning team.

Just a couple of days after rebutting allegations made by members of the council's environmental services staff who had spoken of their discontent with the service, the council went public with words of praise for some of its workers.

The Unite union has accused the council of mounting an attack on the pay and conditions of its members.

Posting a number of pictures on Twitter the council says it appreciates all that its teams do and said: "These are just five members of our incredible street cleaning team which does such a fantastic job of keeping the borough's streets clean and tidy.

"Since April they have cleared more than 1,000 tonnes of litter from our streets and removed nearly 400 fly-tips."
