The fallen who rest in West Thurrock are remembered on Armistice Day

By Neil Speight 11th Nov 2020

THE graves of 44 fallen soldiers from the First and Second World Wars featured in a film of Armistice Day Remembrance made by Thurrock Nub News today.

We visited West Thurrock cemetery which hosts the 44 Commonweath War Grave Commission headstones of the fallen. Among the headstones was Private E. Bentinck of the Royal Defence Corp, who died three days after the conflict ended. Little is known about the private in the 69th Protection Compnay and even his name may be wrong - in paperwork associated with the grave his surname is given as Bentick.

And at 11am, the 11th hour of the 11th day 102 years after the end of hostilities a moment of silence was shared at the stone at the entrance to the West Thurrock Memorial Park.
