THURROCK Council has announced local parking will be free every Saturday in December for the third year running.

The initiative, which kicks off tomorrow (Saturday, 7 December) includes all council-owned car parks, as well as its pay and display on-street parking.

A council statement says: "It will make it easier for residents to shop locally and have a positive impact on the local economy as shoppers take advantage of the free parking to do their Christmas shopping in the borough's excellent town centre shops."
