THURROCK Council bin crews will be carrying out recycling and garden waste collections tomorrow (Saturday, 26 June) as the council catches up on collections missed this week.

The council is asking residents who did not have their blue bin collected this week and anyone who was due to have their brown bin collected as part of week two collections to leave their bins out for collection tomorrow.

Cllr Andrew Jefferies, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: "Crews are working extremely hard but we are still experiencing some backlogs as a result of the reduced household waste collections in previous months.

"Over the last couple of weeks crews have had to collect a lot of additional rubbish beyond the amount we would normally expect at this time of year, most likely as a result of household waste which had built up in the strike period.

"This means that we are still a little behind in some household collections and we apologise for any inconvenience caused for residents.

"We have put additional waste collection rounds on this Saturday to help us catch up as quickly as possible. If you were due to have your blue or brown bin collected this week and it hasn't happened please leave blue and brown bins out so crews can take recycling and garden waste."
