Council raises flag in tribute to armed forces and veterans

By Nub News Reporter 23rd Jun 2025

THURROCK Council raised a flag today (Monday, 23 June), paying homage to the UK's armed forces ahead of a week of tribute that culminates in Armed Forces Day on Saturday (28 June).

Borough MP Jen Craft and Council leader Cllr Lynn Worrall were among those who spoke at a short ceremony attended by local veterans and supporters.

Armed Forces Day is a chance to show your support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving personnel to Service families, veterans and cadets.

It also marks the culmination of a week of celebrations, beginning today, when the public show their support and appreciation for the Armed Forces community. It also includes Reserves Day (25 June), which provides the country with an opportunity to recognise our Reserve Forces.

There are many ways for people, communities and organisations across the country to show their support and get involved. Use this interactive map to find local events
